Choose the Right Stanly Office

County jail, state prison, court, and federal records belong to different custodians. Use Ralph McSwain Booking for a timely county-custody question and a written county request when a copy of the existing release event is needed. The Sheriff’s administrative office is at a different address from the detention center and should not be treated as the physical release exit.

Ralph McSwain Detention Center Booking

Booking can help distinguish a physical county exit from a transfer, although telephone disclosure may be limited. The Sheriff publishes no dedicated release-desk hours. Visitation hours listed elsewhere are not release or records hours.

Stanly County Sheriff Administration

The Sheriff contact page is appropriate for general agency routing. For an existing release-event record or booking photograph, use the Stanly County Public Information Request. No local jail fee schedule or guaranteed turnaround is published.

North Carolina Adult Correction Records

The NCDAC public records office handles state basic incarceration and release records. Simple requests may take days, while complex requests may take weeks or months. Use DAC Offender Public Information first for a public state-prison or supervision history. DAC does not hold county-only jail release records.

Post-Release and Parole Commission

The Commission addresses parole and post-release authority and publishes monthly review results. It does not hold formal public parole hearings. Public supervision status and the named office may also appear in DAC Offender Public Information.

• For finding a released person or asking for a county release record, begin with the Stanly County release search and records path.
• For parole, probation, or active post-release status, use the post-release supervision page and the DAC public record.
• For who may have left county custody today, review the 24-hour release process. The Sheriff does not publish an official same-day released feed.
• For a projected date or an alert, use the release date lookup and VINE inmate check.
• For a facility-specific matter, use the footer links for Ralph McSwain Detention Center or Albemarle Correctional Institution.
• For a sentenced state prisoner, use NCDAC. A county bond-out may never appear in that state system.
• For federal prison or immigration custody, use the official BOP or ICE locator. Neither the Sheriff nor DAC can certify a federal custodian’s record.
